Concrete
Concrete poetry is a form of visual poetry, like shape poetry. The way that the words are arranged on the paper reflect what is happening in the poem.
Write any type of poem that you want (quatrains are especially good). Don't forget to use poetic devises such as alliteration or rhyming. Onomatopoeia is really good to use for concrete poetry! Now look over at the poem that you've written. Can you arrange your writing in a way that would illustrate what you're writing? If you've added an onomatopoeia, maybe you can illustrate the word instead of simply writing it (look at the examples of onomatopoeia in the "Terminology" page). | This is poem about a messy room. Do you notice anything about the words? They're messy too! |
