Shape
Shape poetry is very similar to concrete poetry. They are both a form of visual poetry. Like it's name implies, the words of a shape poem form a single image that is related to the subject of the poem.
First, pick a topic that you want to write about and write a poem as you normally would. Don't forget to include some poetic devices! Think of an object or shape that relates to your poem (for example, a heart would work well for a love poem). To make writing in a shape easier, draw the shape first on a piece of paper in pencil. Then fill in the words of your poem into the outline. When you're done, carefully erase the outline you drew. | night shines brightly with pretty stars that wink and wave against an inky black sky. It is a stage for them to dance and play all through the night. I watch them from my bed wondering what it must be like way up so high. I whsiper to them "good night.” They just smile at me.
